Canon started to do with the Digic IV processor. Not only is the JPG corrected the live view is also. As many of the cheap compact cameras do not have RAW the user does not see the uncorrected image at all.

Before the corrections were used compact cameras typically had zooms that started at 35 mm equivalence. With the corrections 28 mm and later 24 mm became the norm.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913915168052873347.post-13519364360221634872013-12-25T21:09:22.819-08:002013-12-25T21:09:22.819-08:00I like your book alot. I tried taking a pic with the flash normally, but a vertical shot and the result was less than spectacular. Should i just disable the flash and shoot in Aperture or Manual mode to get better lighting? Thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913915168052873347.post-26797179166166834962012-11-07T21:09:42.462-08:002012-11-07T21:09:42.462-08:00Yes!!! :-) There are two subscribe buttons - one ...Yes!!! :-) There are two subscribe buttons - one for a year, and one automatically renewing subscription.Gary L. In other words, it's not correct that "you'll never notice the difference"---in fact it's rather obvious.

If there is a barrel-distorted rectangular image, correction turns it into an "hourglass" frame. Turning that into a rectangular shape requires cropping.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913915168052873347.post-8432581355658121882012-10-14T12:06:12.335-07:002012-10-14T12:06:12.335-07:00I am not an expert, but it seems to me that if you...I am not an expert, but it seems to me that if you count along the top or bottom, there are 14 vertical lines in the barrel-distorted shot (the one on the far right bends out of the frame in the middle and comes back). In the corrected image there are 13 vertical lines. So there HAS been loss of information. The entire sensor is not being utilized.

Aberrations also cannot be corrected in software, only covered up, because most aberrations lead to loss of information and this cannot be recovered once lost.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7913915168052873347.post-7819438347070207322012-10-14T06:48:46.685-07:002012-10-14T06:48:46.685-07:00The A77 can correct for lenses only in .jpg exposu...The A77 can correct for lenses only in .jpg exposures, not raw.

Does anybody know if Sony will ever produce lens profiles for Lightroom? I don't believe my a35 can, but which Alphas can do that trick? I need to upgrade for some other reasons as well. Interesting issue!

Gary EickmeierAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
